Montreal Introduction - Car Rental Montreal

Though the comparison is often made, Montreal is not Paris. For many visitors, it may be better.

Montreal has much of the Gallic charm associated with Paris -- the French language, fine restaurants, historic buildings, lively streets and sidewalk cafes.

But visitors -- non-French speakers, in particular -- will find it has little of the anti-English snobbery that can be encountered in Paris.

A truly multicultural city with an international population, Montreal is a place unto itself -- one of the most memorable urban destinations in North America.

Montreal Climate - Car Rental Montreal

While some of Montreal's attractions make a winter visit enticing (especially for skiers), summer is the best season to travel to the city.

Spring is probably least interesting, because the snow is just melting and some outdoor attractions don't open until late June.

Visitors who go in summer will want to be prepared for the heat (and an occasional thunderstorm). Highs are usually in the low 80s F/25-27 C but occasionally climb into the mid 90s F/32-35 C with humidity as high as 80%.

Fall temperatures are pleasant, and there's sometimes a late Indian summer. Average October temperatures run 42-55 F/5-13 C, so take a warm sweater or jacket.

Winter is definitely cold and snowy. When venturing outside, be sure to wear several warm layers and keep your extremities covered.

Temperatures average 7-23 F/-15 to -5 C, with readings possible below 0 F/-18 C. With wind chill, it can feel like 22 F/-30 C.

It snows quite heavily on occasion, so expect snow banks and snow-packed sidewalks until it's cleared away.

Montreal Transport - Car Rental Montreal

It's easy to get to Montreal and easy to navigate the city once you're there. If you're staying in the central city, there's really no need to rent a car.

Almost everything can be reached easily by walking or by taking a taxi, the metro or bus, and you won't have to worry about parking.
